GraveStory (developed by James Edmonds,
edmondsj46@gmail.com) lets you delete your account and all of your data permanently. The fastest way is right inside the app, and this page explains exactly how — and how to request deletion by email if you no longer have the app installed.
Delete your account from within the app
If you have the GraveStory app installed and are signed in, you can delete your account yourself in a few taps:
- Open GraveStory and tap the Settings (account) screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Permanently Delete.
Your account and data are removed immediately. This action cannot be undone.
Request deletion by email
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, email us from the address associated with your account and we will delete your account and all associated data on your behalf, normally within 30 days.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently and irreversibly removes all of the following:
- Your account and sign-in credentials.
- Every story you have saved — including any you shared publicly on the community map, which are removed from the map.
- The gravestone photos you uploaded.
- Your candle and flower tributes, your display name, and your visibility preferences.
- Your scan history and usage records.
- Any unused purchased scan credits. Purchased scans are non-refundable and are lost when you delete your account.
What is not affected
A few items are intentionally retained or are not tied to your identity:
- Stories saved by other people. If another user independently photographed and saved a story about the same grave, their story is theirs and is not removed.
- Anonymous abuse reports. If you ever reported a problem without being signed in, that report is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you.
- Purchase records held by Google Play and our payment processor may be retained as required for tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes, in accordance with their own policies.
