GraveStory

Terms of Service — Effective June 14, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the GraveStory app and website. GraveStory photographs gravestones and generates AI-assisted biographical stories about the people buried there, drawn from public records. By using GraveStory you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What GraveStory Is

GraveStory lets you photograph a gravestone and receive an AI-generated biographical story about the person it commemorates, assembled from publicly available records and historical sources. It is intended for remembrance, education, genealogy, and historical interest.

GraveStory is not an official record, a genealogical authority, or a substitute for primary-source research. It is a research aid that produces a respectful starting point, not a verified or authoritative account of any person.

2. AI-Generated Content and Accuracy

Biographies, summaries, location estimates, and symbol interpretations are produced by automated systems (artificial intelligence) drawing on third-party public sources. You acknowledge and agree that:

We take the risk of AI “hallucination” seriously and have built multiple safeguards to keep biographies grounded in cited evidence rather than invention; these are described in our Privacy Policy. No automated system is perfect, however, and historical records and weathered stones contain errors. Each generated story is shown with a visible notice of its AI-generated nature.

3. Reporting Problems and Removal Requests

Every generated story includes an in-app “Report a problem” feature. If you believe a story is inaccurate, offensive, infringes someone’s rights, or concerns a living person inappropriately, please report it there or email us at edmondsj46@gmail.com.

We review reports and may correct, restrict, unpublish, or remove content at our discretion. If you are an individual (or an authorized representative or close relative) and a publicly shared story concerns you or your deceased relative and you want it removed or corrected, contact us and we will act in good faith to address your request promptly.

4. Accounts

Some features require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for activity under your account. You may sign in with email and password or with a third-party provider such as Google. You may delete your account and associated data from within the app or by contacting us; see our Privacy Policy.

5. Public Sharing and the Community Map

You may choose to share a story publicly, which makes its biography, photo, name, dates, and approximate location visible to others on the community map. Public sharing is optional and off by default.

If you share a story publicly, you represent that doing so does not violate anyone’s privacy or other rights. Do not publicly share content that identifies, or includes private information about, living individuals without a lawful basis. You can make a shared story private again, or delete it, at any time, and we may remove publicly shared content at our discretion, including in response to a report.

6. Your Responsibilities and Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

You are responsible for how you use, share, and rely on content from the service.

7. Purchases, Credits, and Refunds

GraveStory offers paid scan credits through the applicable app store’s billing system (for example, Google Play Billing). Prices are shown at the point of purchase. Credits are consumed when you run a scan and do not expire. Purchases are processed and, where applicable, taxed by the app store as merchant of record; refunds and billing disputes are handled according to that app store’s policies. Except where required by law or those policies, purchases are non-refundable.

8. Intellectual Property

The service, including its software, design, and branding (including the GraveStory name and logo), is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the service for its intended purpose. Story content may incorporate or reference third-party and public-domain material that remains subject to its own rights and licenses; we make no ownership claim over that underlying source material.

9. Third-Party Services and Sources

The service relies on third-party providers and public data sources (including search, mapping, genealogy, encyclopedic, archival, and cloud-infrastructure providers, listed in our Privacy Policy). We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or practices of third-party sources, and your use of any linked third-party content is at your own risk and subject to that third party’s terms.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

11. Limitation of Liability

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GraveStory and its operator from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party (including content you share publicly).

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. To the extent permitted by law and not subject to the app store’s policies, you agree that the state and federal courts located in South Carolina have jurisdiction over any dispute.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may modify or discontinue the service, and we may update these Terms, at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
